Las Pazas de James, Xilitla, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, June, 2009
The first place that I have seen is SURREALISTIC GARDEN, but it is look like a jungle from a old fairy tale. Englishman Edward James has built an astounding showcase of surrealistic structures in the lush jungles of north-east Mexico. Leaving England in 1940 with the intention of making the United States his home, instead he found himself in 1944 moving to Mexico with the idea of creating a "Garden of Eden".
We went through the garden at Laz Pozas starting off with path guiding us through a giant ring-gate and along the Walkway of the Serpents. We climbed upward, passing under and through various phantasmagoric structures, winding pathways and the stairs to the towers rising out of the ferns and other vegetation that grew closely on all sides. We are were climbing to flat areas.
These platforms afforded us incredible views to the sculptures rising into the sky like ancient ruins, the spiral structures and stairways. We walked onto a bridge that leads nowhere and then followed a small downward path to see a stone watershed channel with the crystal clear, turquoise water. This is the realm of fantasy embodied in reality.
